## Synopsis

Straight to Hell (2026) is a Japanese prestige drama series created for Netflix, a limited nine-episode run of about fifty-five minutes each. It follows Kazuko Hosoki (Erika Toda), Japan's most famous fortune teller, whose televised readings and bestselling books made her a household name. Around her circle orbit Minori Uozumi (Sairi Ito), Masaya Hotta (Toma Ikuta), Chiyoko Shimakura (Toko Miura) and Masataka Yasunaga (Renji Ishibashi), each drawn into her orbit in ways that test loyalty and belief. The engine of the series is the gap between the glittering public persona and the rumors of spiritual scams and underworld ties that dog her, with every episode tightening the pressure around what she has built and what she is willing to hide. Its contemporary Japanese setting is one of media spectacle, celebrity culture and private anxiety, and the tone stays tense, paranoid and quietly unsettling as the questions multiply. Viewers who enjoy the scandal-driven ambition of Tokyo Vice and the public-persona unease of Inventing Anna will find the same appetite for a charismatic figure whose reputation may be a carefully curated illusion. The series is still airing, with its first season a complete arc of deception, control and reckoning.
