## Synopsis

Habeas Corpus is a Brazilian legal drama created by Luiz Villaça for Netflix, a returning series that began in 2026 with one eight-episode season of roughly sixty-five minutes each. Law professor Inez (Marjorie Estiano) leads a team of students, including Marina (Any Gabrielly) and Jonathan (Hipólyto), in an effort to prove the innocence of a man already convicted of a crime. The engine of the show is the slow reconstruction of a case inside a university clinic, where every interview, file and courtroom appearance pushes the students closer to powerful people who would rather the verdict stand. Murilo Villar (Vladimir Brichta) and Pedro Borrmann (Danton Mello) add pressure from opposite sides of the bench, while the brightest student's hidden connection to the convicted man turns each new discovery into a personal reckoning. Episodes unfold as connected case steps rather than standalone cases, building a single continuing thread. The tone is soapy and intense, with social stakes running through the professional rivalries and intimate betrayals. Fans of How to Get Away with Murder, The Night Of and Sintonia will find resonance in its mix of courtroom tension, university politics and tangled loyalties.
