## Synopsis

Trust Me: The False Prophet (2026) is an American true crime documentary miniseries created for Netflix, running four episodes of roughly 52 minutes each. A cult expert and a filmmaker work to expose a self-proclaimed prophet who leads a polygamist sect, and the series builds its case through testimony from people who lived inside the community. Former members and their accounts form the emotional spine, with archive footage of the sect's longtime leader Warren Jeffs appearing alongside interviews with Christine Marie, Tolga Katas, Samuel Bateman and Naomi Bistline. Each episode moves the investigation forward by peeling back another layer of coercion, control and hidden abuse within a closed American religious community. The structure is methodical rather than sensational: the filmmakers gather voices, check accounts against records and footage, and follow the pressure that builds as the case approaches a reckoning. The tone is sober and grave, with an undercurrent of unease about how belief can be turned into a tool of domination. Viewers drawn to investigative documentaries about cults and abusive leaders will find the same mix of testimony and exposure found in Wild Wild Country and Keep Sweet: Cults, Preppers and Polygamy. It suits anyone who wants a serious, human-centered true crime account rather than a lurid one.
