## Synopsis

Nippon Sangoku: The Three Nations of the Crimson Sun (2026-present) is a Japanese and American animated political war drama, adapted from a manga and produced by Studio Kafka with Amazon MGM Studios for Prime Video. Aoteru Misumi, a former agricultural officer voiced by Kensho Ono, vows to reunify a country that has splintered after nuclear war, natural disaster, and misrule. With only his knowledge and eloquence, he works his way up through the ranks of rival powers, while figures such as Asama Yoshitune (Jun Fukuyama) and Denki Taira (Takashi Nagasako) shape the shifting alliances around him. Each episode is built from negotiation, espionage, and large-scale military maneuvering, so the drama turns on whether words can win what armies usually take. The series runs at a measured pace across its episodes, with a narrator threading the Sangoku era together. Its tone is grim and philosophical, with a desperate, zealous atmosphere and bursts of brutal battle. Fans of Kingdom and Golden Kamuy will find resonance in its blend of historical-scale warfare and character-driven intrigue, and viewers who enjoy Attack on Titan's collapsed-world politics will feel at home here.
