## Synopsis

Prisoner 951 (2025) is a British four-episode miniseries broadcast on BBC One, a dramatized true story created around the real case of Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe (Narges Rashidi), a dual national imprisoned in Iran and separated from her young daughter. Her husband Richard Ratcliffe (Joseph Fiennes) becomes the engine of the story, refusing to accept silence from officials as he battles both the British and Iranian governments in pursuit of her release. Each episode is built from the grinding details of that campaign: lawyers, diplomatic meetings, letters, and prison visits that turn small concessions into agonizing setbacks. Supporting characters include Barbara Ratcliffe (Marion Bailey), Richard's mother, whose steady presence anchors the family at home, and Seyed (Armin Karima) and Shirin (Elham Karimpour), who draw the viewer into the Iranian side of the ordeal. The tone is restrained and sincere, with a claustrophobic sense of waiting and a quiet, persistent hope. Fans of Chernobyl, Tehran and Erin Brockovich will find resonance in its grounded look at state power squeezing one family. Set in 2010s Iran and London, it is a limited, four-episode story of roughly four hours in total, with no need for prior knowledge of the case to follow its emotional stakes.
