## Synopsis

Hathras 16 Days (2026) is an Indian true crime series produced for ZEE5, a three-episode limited series built around a real-world style case of a young Dalit girl who is gang-raped and left fighting for her life. Journalists including Tanushree Pandey, Nidhi Suresh, Amil Bhatnagar and Rubika Liyaquat appear in the cast, alongside activist figure Chandrashekhar Azad Ravan, and their presence anchors the series in investigation and reporting. The engine of the story is the victim's decision to name her attackers, an act that sets off a struggle as her truth is buried and her family must press for justice through police, courts and a hostile public machinery. Each episode follows the investigation, the family's testimony and the pressure to silence them, building toward a portrait of a justice system that fails the vulnerable even after death. The tone is sombre, angry and deeply humane, with a documentary-leaning realism that keeps focus on evidence and human cost. Viewers who appreciate true crime docuseries and serious social justice drama, in the vein of When They See Us and Indian Predator: The Butcher of Delhi, will find resonance in its unflinching examination of caste, gender and institutional failure.
