## Synopsis

50 Seconds: The Fernando Báez Sosa Case (2025) is a Netflix true crime documentary miniseries from Argentina, a three-episode limited series of roughly 47 minutes each. The series revisits the fatal beating of Fernando Báez Sosa, a young man set upon by a group of youths, an assault that was captured on video and quickly spread across the country. Lawyer Fernando Burlando appears as a principal voice, guiding the viewer through the case's legal fight and the family's search for accountability. The engine of the series is the gap between what the footage shows and what the courts and public debate make of it, as testimony, evidence, and media coverage are reconstructed episode by episode. Its shape is a compact, self-contained investigation rather than an open-ended saga, moving from the moment of the attack through the aftermath. The mood is sober, angry, and mournful, with a documentary realism that foregrounds grief and institutional scrutiny over spectacle. Viewers who appreciate Making a Murderer, The Staircase, and When They See Us will find a similar resonance in its handling of a real crime, its procedural detail, and its portrait of a society reckoning with violence and privilege.
