## Synopsis

Zung: The Rust (2026) is an Indian scripted crime thriller series created for broadcast by Hungama Digital Media Entertainment, currently an ongoing series with one episode released so far. Centered on Kaveri, whose seemingly perfect marriage hides deadly secrets, the story follows how an affair spirals into blackmail and murder in the industrial shipbreaking town of Alang, where massive hulls are dismantled along the shoreline and the local economy depends on the yards. Kaveri's carefully maintained domestic facade begins to crack as a police investigation gathers pressure, exposing betrayal and manipulation among the people closest to her. The engine of the series is the tension between her desire to keep her life intact and the mounting cost of every lie she tells, with each episode tightening the net around her choices. Set in contemporary Gujarat, the show favors a grounded, morally tangled crime drama register, with unsettling atmosphere drawn from the rusted, heavy industrial landscape. Viewers who enjoy the domestic secrets of Big Little Lies, the procedural unraveling of Broadchurch, or the gritty industrial crime of Gangs of Wasseypur will find resonance here. Its tone is tense, bleak and character driven, building steadily toward consequences rather than easy resolutions.
