## What critics say

Critics broadly agree that The Last Dance is a compelling, access-driven documentary that uses archival footage and personal interviews to portray the 1990s Chicago Bulls dynasty and Michael Jordan's competitive drive.

## Synopsis

The Last Dance is a ten-part documentary series that follows the Chicago Bulls through their 1997-98 season, their pursuit of a sixth championship in eight years. Built from unseen footage shot inside the team over that year, it moves between present-day interviews with players, coaches and executives and the raw moments of the era. Michael Jordan sits at the center, fierce, competitive and often hard on those around him, while Scottie Pippen, Dennis Rodman, Phil Jackson and Jerry Krause shape the story with their own grievances and loyalties. The tone is nostalgic yet clear-eyed, tense during playoff runs and reflective when former teammates look back on what the dynasty cost them. Rather than a simple highlight reel, it examines ambition, rivalry, loyalty and the pressure of being the best, with the sense of an era closing hanging over every episode. Viewers who love basketball, or who are drawn to stories of demanding leaders and fractured teams, will find it gripping even without deep knowledge of the sport. The series balances celebration with candid critique, leaving a bittersweet impression of greatness and its price.
