## Synopsis

PRI: Crónica del Fin (2025) is a Mexican political documentary docuseries created by Denise Maerker and produced by N+ Docs. Across five hour-long episodes it follows the Institutional Revolutionary Party, the political machine that for decades offered Mexicans the only dependable route to power, and traces how it survived armed uprisings, student movements, economic crises, electoral defeats and corruption scandals before collapsing. Former presidents and party figures appear as themselves, including Carlos Salinas de Gortari, Enrique Peña Nieto, Vicente Fox, Elba Esther Gordillo, Cuauhtémoc Cárdenas Solórzano and Aurelio Nuño, giving the story a testimonial, first-hand weight. The engine of the series is the question of how an institution gathers so much control and then loses it, told through archival footage, interviews and the accumulation of concrete episodes of abuse and arrogance. Its tone is sober and analytical, with an undercurrent of indignation about state crimes and the cost of one-party rule. Shaped as a single limited run rather than an ongoing show, it suits viewers drawn to political history and power in the vein of Dark Money and The Square, and to anyone wanting a grounded account of modern Mexico.
