## Synopsis

Devkhel (2026-present) is a Marathi-language Indian crime mystery series created by Chandrakant Gaikwad for ZEE5 and produced by Cine Masters Production. Every Holi in the village of Devtali, a death is blamed on the mythical demon Shankasur, and the story follows Inspector Vishwas Saranjame (Ankush Chaudhari) as he takes up the latest case and begins to see that the supposed divine punishment hides something far more human and unsettling. Around him orbit Sarika Nimkar (Prajakta Mali), Lakshmi (Veena Jamkar) and SP Rangane (Mangesh Desai), whose stakes and secrets pull the investigation in new directions. The engine of the show is a patient, interrogation-driven hunt in which the detective must pry open a community that prefers myth to scrutiny. Presented as a single seven-episode season of roughly twenty-five-minute episodes, it unfolds as one continuing investigation rather than a case-of-the-week format. Set in a contemporary rural Maharashtra village, its atmosphere is suspenseful and foreboding, with the festival's colour and noise sitting uneasily over quiet dread. Fans of Sacred Games, Broadchurch and Mare of Easttown will find resonance in its blend of crime procedure, small community secrecy and slow-building unease.
