## Synopsis

R.J. Decker (2026-present) is an American crime mystery series created by Carl Hiaasen and Rob Doherty for ABC. Scott Speedman plays RJ Decker, an ex-convict and former photographer who becomes a private investigator in South Florida, supported by his journalist ex Emi Ochoa, played by Jaina Lee Ortiz, and the cop wife figure connected to her life. Each case is a strange local puzzle that pulls him through marinas, newsrooms, and back roads where local crooks operate, while an enigmatic woman from his past, Catherine Delacroix (Adelaide Clemens), may either help him or destroy him. The engine is a man trying to rebuild a legitimate life while his old history keeps pulling him back into danger. Episodes are largely self-contained cases with a running thread of personal stakes, and the show runs as a returning series with two seasons and sixteen episodes so far. Its tone is breezy and sun-soaked, with wry humor and a warm ensemble dynamic. Fans of Magnum, P.I., Burn Notice, and Moonlighting will find a familiar pleasure in its sunny private eye banter and redemption-driven crime solving.
