## Synopsis

Eren the Southpaw (2026) is a Japanese animated coming of age drama series based on the manga 'Hidari Kiki no Eren', produced by Signal.MD and Production I.G and broadcast across TV Tokyo and affiliated stations. The story follows Koichi Asakura (voiced by Shoya Chiba), a high school student who dreams of studying design at art school until explosive graffiti on a museum wall upends his plans. The artist behind it is Eren Yamagishi (voiced by Yumi Uchiyama), a left-handed girl who buried her talent after a painful past incident. Drawn together through art, the two pursue creative paths as Eren slowly returns to painting, while fear, ambition and old scars threaten to pull them apart. Supporting voices including Yui Ishikawa as Sayuri Kato and Akira Sekine as Akari Kishi fill out the school circle around them. Told across a single thirteen-episode season of roughly twenty-four minutes each, the series moves at a measured, contemplative pace, building its emotional weight through quiet studio moments, sketchbook close-ups and the friction of two people who need art and fear it in equal measure. Its tone is earnest, wistful and hopeful, with a grounded, character-driven focus on the cost of creative ambition. Fans of Blue Period and Chihayafuru will find resonance in its portrait of youthful passion and artistic struggle.
