## Synopsis

Great Kills (2023) is a American mockumentary crime comedy series created for a US network. A documentary film crew trails a lonely hit man from Great Kills, Staten Island, recording both his quiet daily life and the violent crimes he carries out. The engine of the show is the gap between the crew's detached, observational camera and the human cost of what it films: the crew never intervenes, and the hitman's loneliness and routine become the source of the comedy. Each episode is built from interviews, handheld street footage and mundane errands punctuated by sudden brutality. The single-season run is a short, self-contained entry in the tradition of observational crime satire, closer in spirit to dark comedies about outsiders than to conventional gangster drama. Its tone is deadpan, bleak and uncomfortably funny, with a flat suburban palette that makes violence feel ordinary. Fans of Documentary Now!, What We Do in the Shadows and Barry will find resonance in its mix of mockumentary form, dark humor and a criminal protagonist whose self-image never quite matches what the camera shows.
