## Synopsis

Treasure Island (2026) is a United States streaming adventure series created by Robert Murphy for MGM+, adapted from the classic novel. Young Jim Hawkins (Tom Sweet) and his mother Bess come into possession of a legendary pirate's treasure map, and the map pulls them onto a deadly voyage across the Atlantic. Jim must navigate mutiny, violence and betrayal while learning who he can trust among the crew. David Oyelowo plays Long John Silver, the charming and dangerous figure whose loyalties are never simple, and Jack Huston, Tristan Sturrock and Tomer Capone round out the principal cast as crewmen and officers caught between greed and survival. The series is a single season of six episodes, a continuing story rather than a case of the week, with each installment moving the voyage forward. Its tone is tense and swashbuckling, with an undercurrent of melancholy as Jim is forever changed by what he sees. Set in the golden age of piracy on the open Atlantic, it carries the sea-faring grit and moral ambiguity of Black Sails and the classic adventure spirit of earlier screen versions of the story. Fans of Black Sails and of coming of age pirate adventures will find resonance here, with a treasure hunt that is as much about the cost of the journey as the gold itself.
