## Synopsis

The Affair Was Just the Beginning (2026) is a South Korean crime thriller miniseries created by Jeong Eun-kyeong for Coupang Play. Kim Hye-soo plays Kyung-hee, a successful entrepreneur whose carefully managed life collapses when she learns that her husband has been covering up a killing allegedly committed by their daughter. Cho Yeo-jeong, Kim Ji-hoon, and Kim Jae-chul round out the principal family circle, while Do Yeong-seo and Jeon Si-hyun play younger figures pulled into the fallout. The engine of the story is a race to contain the truth: every concealment requires another lie, and an anonymous blackmailer claims to hold recordings of everything. The eight-episode limited series moves briskly, with each installment escalating the pressure and widening the circle of suspects and accomplices. Set in contemporary Seoul, its world is one of polished apartments, boardrooms, and private family rituals that hide ugly fractures underneath. The tone is tense and claustrophobic, with dark irony and a sharp focus on class, image, and loyalty. Fans of Big Little Lies, The Undoing and Sky Castle will find resonance in its blend of glossy domestic drama, moral compromise, and the slow dread of secrets that refuse to stay buried.
