## Synopsis

Who Hired the Hitman? (2025) is an American true crime docuseries broadcast on Investigation Discovery, presented as a six-episode run of roughly forty-three minutes each. Each case follows homicide detectives as they work through police interrogations, interviews with suspects, and crime scene evidence in search of the person who paid for a killing rather than the gunman who carried it out. The engine of every episode is the gap between a tidy alibi and the hidden hand behind the murder, as investigators test each story against forensic findings and mounting contradictions. Cast members including Frank DiMatteo, Glenn E. Mate, and Pat Melton appear across all six installments, anchoring the procedural accounts with firsthand testimony. The format is case-driven rather than continuous, so each episode closes one investigation while building a shared theme of manipulation and concealment. The atmosphere is sober and suspenseful, with grim crime scene material handled in a straightforward, documentary manner. Viewers who enjoy Forensic Files, The Staircase, and Making a Murderer will find the same appetite for methodical, real-world detective work here.
