## Synopsis

Small Prophets (2026-present) is a British comedy drama series created for BBC Two with a whimsical fantasy streak. Pearce Quigley stars as Michael Sleep, a lonely man whose ordinary life in a suburban shed is upended when he stumbles on a magical recipe that promises new hope years after a mysterious disappearance. Michael Palin plays Brian, Lauren Patel plays Kacey, Mackenzie Crook plays Gordon, and Sophie Willan plays Bev, with the supporting ensemble rounding out a neighbourhood of quirky characters. The engine of the show is simple and tactile: a shed, a recipe, and a homunculus that threatens to upend the routines of the people around it. Each six-episode run of thirty-minute episodes moves in a single continuing thread, blending everyday domestic detail with small supernatural events. The tone is gentle and wry, with melancholic undercurrents about loneliness and the search for connection. Set in contemporary England, it sits in the lineage of quiet British comedies like Ghosts and offbeat magical fantasies like Pushing Daisies, appealing to viewers who enjoy magical realism grounded in ordinary life.
