## Synopsis

Fire and Water: Making the Avatar Films (2025) is a two-part American documentary miniseries for Disney+, created as a making-of production. It follows director James Cameron alongside producer Jon Landau and cast members Zoe Saldaña, Kate Winslet, Sam Worthington and Stephen Lang as they build the blockbuster Avatar: The Way of Water. The engine of the program is the slow, painstaking craft of bringing a vast digital world to life, shown through exclusive behind-the-scenes footage, concept art, and candid interviews about performance capture, visual effects, and the logistics of an enormous shoot. Each episode runs close to fifty minutes and moves through interviews and production scenes rather than a single narrative thread. The tone is curious and warm, with an insider's enthusiasm for the artistry behind a box office phenomenon. Fans of Lightstorm productions, documentary films about filmmaking, and making-of features such as Hearts of Darkness will find resonance here. The series suits viewers who want to see how a huge spectacle was assembled from the ground up.
