## Synopsis

Man's Inhumanity to Man (2025) is a Chinese historical war drama produced for Jiangsu Television and Youku, told across one twenty-episode season. Jiang Qilin plays Tong Changfu, with Lan Xiya as Tong Yulan and Han Jing as Xu Guifen, while Zhang Yu plays Chen Ruping and Ryohei Arakawa and Yin Zheng play Japanese figures within the occupation's machinery. The drama follows ordinary Chinese lives caught in the shadow of Japanese occupation, where survival is shaped by the knowledge of what is being done in secret laboratories. Each episode carries the weight of documented wartime experimentation, centering the horrors of Unit 731 as the family and their community absorb its cost. Built as one continuous serialized story, it moves at a deliberate, sombre pace. Its tone is haunting and reflective, foregrounding grief, memory and a hope for lasting peace. Viewers drawn to Chernobyl or Hotel Rwanda will recognise its unflinching treatment of atrocity and its humane focus on the people who live through it.
