## Synopsis

The Drop: A Snowfall Saga (2026) is a US FX drama series created by Malcolm Spellman, a spin-off from the world of Snowfall and a gritty music-industry story set in 1990s Los Angeles. Wanda Bell (Gail Bean) and Leon Simmons (Isaiah John) drive the narrative as they fight to take West Coast rap into the mainstream, while Lamar Kinsey (Asante Blackk) and James 'Big Daddy' Kinsey (Mykelti Williamson) embody the street-level pressures that shadow every deal. The engine of the show is a tug of war between artistic ambition and the dangers of gang territory, with each episode building around studio negotiations, recording sessions and turf conflicts that spill into the streets. Record executives circle the scene, eager to profit from hip hop culture on their own terms, which keeps the stakes personal and the choices hard. Presented as a one-season run of eight episodes, the series unfolds as a single continuing story rather than a case-of-the-week format. Its tone is tense and smoky, with a sense of dread running beneath the music, and its themes of loyalty, exploitation and the cost of success will appeal to fans of Snowfall, Empire and Vinyl. Set in the gritty Los Angeles of the early nineties, it captures the sound, style and danger of a scene on the brink of breaking through.
