## Synopsis

Twenty Twenty Six (2026) is a British mockumentary comedy series created by John Morton for BBC Two. Following on from his role at the BBC, Director of Integrity Ian Fletcher (Hugh Bonneville) leads the Oversight team tasked with running the 2026 FIFA World Cup, while the narrator (David Tennant) frames the footage. Alongside Fletcher, principal staff such as Phil Plank (Nick Blood), Will Humphries (Hugh Skinner) and Nick Castellano (Paulo Costanzo) push through the daily chaos of organising a global tournament, with each episode built from interviews, office friction and the absurd gap between official ambition and bureaucratic reality. The engine is simple: a team that wants a clean, well-run event keeps colliding with its own egos, deadlines and the sprawling machinery of international football. The series runs for a single six-episode season of roughly half-hour episodes. Its register is dry, deadpan and sardonic, with a satirical bite aimed at media spin and governing-body self-importance rather than at the game itself. Fans of The Thick of It and The Office (UK) will find resonance in its talking-head confessionals and understated British humour, all tied to a real, recent sporting event.
