## Synopsis

Unit One (2000-2004) is a Danish television crime series created by Peter Thorsboe for DR1, a Danish public broadcaster. Charlotte Fich plays Ingrid Dahl and Mads Mikkelsen plays Allan Fischer, members of an elite mobile police task force that travels across Denmark to help local police departments crack difficult cases. Lars Brygmann plays Thomas La Cour, and Waage Sandø, Erik Wedersøe and Trine Pallesen fill out the ensemble. Across four seasons and thirty-two episodes, each hour follows the team into a new town and a new investigation, with the engine of the show being the slow, methodical work of interviews, evidence and procedure. The cases are loosely drawn from real incidents such as murders, kidnappings, cross-border sex trafficking and child pornography, giving the series a grounded, sober tone. Its atmosphere is restrained and tense, with an emphasis on human cost over spectacle. Set in contemporary Denmark, the show is a Scandinavian police procedural with a documentary-like seriousness. Fans of The Killing, The Bridge and Wallander will find resonance in its bleak yet humane investigations. The series won the 2002 International Emmy Award for best drama series.
