## Synopsis

Mike (2022) is an American limited series created by Steven Rogers for Hulu, a dramatized sports biography in eight half-hour episodes. Trevante Rhodes plays heavyweight champion Mike Tyson, one of the most polarizing figures in sports culture, while Russell Hornsby plays promoter Don King, the powerful figure who steers the young fighter's career. Harvey Keitel appears as trainer Cus D'Amato, and Oluniké Adeliyi plays Lorna Mae in the orbit of Tyson's personal life. The engine of the story is a fighter's hunger for titles colliding with the people who profit from his fame, as each bout brings new pressure, new money, and new damage. Episodes move between the ring and the private world around it, drawing on the boxing gym, the promoter's office, and the crowded arenas where Tyson's reputation is built and tested. Shaped as a single continuous run rather than a case-of-the-week format, the miniseries lays out a life that is wild, tragic and controversial. The tone is gritty and unvarnished, somber in places and charged with the noise of stardom. Fans of Winning Time, Ali and Raging Bull will find resonance in its portrait of an athlete chewed up by spectacle and the men who sell him.
