## Synopsis

The Ibiza Affair (2021) is a German-Austrian political drama miniseries created for Sky Atlantic and told across four episodes. It traces the background that led to a secretly filmed meeting on a Mediterranean island and the political drama that followed. Andreas Lust plays Heinz-Christian Strache, the far-right Austrian politician at the center of the scandal, while Julian Looman takes on Johann Gudenus, and Nicholas Ofczarek portrays Julian Hessenthaler, a figure drawn into the machinations around the encounter. Cosima Lehninger, David A. Hamade, and Patrick Güldenberg round out the principal cast as the operatives, companions and intermediaries who shape the affair. The engine of the story is ambition colliding with exposure: each episode moves between Vienna offices, private rooms and luxury villas as people maneuver to control what the hidden camera captured. Shot with a sober, documentary-leaning eye, the series builds a tense, clammy atmosphere of paranoia and moral compromise rather than spectacle. Its tone is cynical and unsettling, with an undercurrent of dread about how easily power is bought and sold. Fans of Borgen, Veep and Chernobyl will find resonance in its grounded dramatization of real political events and their human costs.
