## Synopsis

Sassy Girl Chun-Hyang (2005) is a South Korean romantic comedy series created by Hong Mi-ran and Hong Jeong-eun for KBS2. Its loud, impulsive heroine Sung Chun-hyang (Han Chae-young) fiercely loves Lee Mong-ryong (Jae Hee), a city boy transferred from Seoul to a high school in the provincial town of Namwon, and she works relentlessly to help him get into a prestigious university. Her plans grow complicated when Mong-ryong reconnects with his former first love, Hong Chae-rin (Park Si-eun), and his affection wavers while Chun-hyang's devotion never does. The seventeen-episode run, each around seventy minutes, is a single continuing story built on escalating misunderstandings, school rivalries and the comic friction of two strong personalities. Set in a small provincial Korean town, it is a loose modern reworking of the classic folk romance of Chun-hyang, with a slapstick, chaotic energy and an earnest heart. Fans of My Sassy Girl, Boys Over Flowers and Coffee Prince will find resonance in its playful, emotionally sincere take on young love.
