## Synopsis

Human Trafficking (2005) is a Canadian two-episode miniseries created for Lifetime, a grim crime drama with a thriller spine. Donald Sutherland plays Agent Bill Meehan, an American immigration enforcement agent who goes undercover to dismantle an organization moving people across borders. Mira Sorvino plays Kate Morozov, and Robert Carlyle plays Sergei Karpovich, a figure tied to the criminal network, while Laurence Leboeuf plays Nadia, one of the trafficked women whose struggles give the story its emotional center. Rémy Girard plays Viktor Tagarov. The engine of the story is the slow, dangerous work of gaining trust inside a ring that treats human beings as merchandise, with each episode built from undercover meetings, tense negotiations, and the constant risk of exposure. Its shape is compact: a single limited run that moves between the investigation and the lives of the women caught inside it. The tone is sober, harrowing and dread-filled, with an investigative procedural pace and a focus on exploitation rather than spectacle. Viewers who appreciate dark, issue driven crime stories in the vein of Taken and The Wire will find its serious, unflinching approach familiar.
