## Synopsis

Black Knight (2023) is a South Korean science fiction miniseries created by Cho Ui-seok for Netflix. Set in a dystopian 2071 devastated by air pollution, it follows a skilled fighter known as 5-8 (Kim Woo-bin), a figure who rose from tragedy and gathers outsiders around him. Kang You-seok plays Yoon Sa Wol, and Esom plays Jung Seol-a, while Song Seung-heon and Nam Kyung-eup portray figures tied to the wealthy corporation that runs the world. The engine is simple and propulsive: a rebellious crew of misfits takes on a powerful elite while trying to protect the weak and helpless in a world where status and wealth decide who breathes clean air. Its six episodes of roughly forty-seven minutes each unfold as one self-contained arc of fights, schemes and shifting alliances rather than a long-running saga. The tone is gritty and atmospheric, with apocalyptic landscapes mirroring the despair of a divided society, and the action is delivered with visceral intensity. Viewers who enjoy Snowpiercer for its class-divided dystopia, or Squid Game for its ruthless power structures, will find a familiar appetite for underdog resistance here. The result is a bleak but rousing sci-fi thriller about loyalty, inequality and the courage to fight back.
