## Synopsis

Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi (2002) is a Japanese animated comedy adventure series produced by GAINAX, Madhouse, King Records, IMAGICA and dentsu and broadcast on Kids Station. Two kids, Satoshi Imamiya (voiced by Tomo Saeki) and Arumi Asahina (voiced by Yuki Matsuoka), whose families run businesses in an Osaka shopping arcade scheduled to shut down, are thrown into a chain of dimensions that each parody a different form of anime or video game. Their engine is simple and relentless: find a way back home while every new world bends the rules and throws stranger obstacles at them. Each of the thirteen episodes, running about 24 minutes, is built from dense slapstick gags, meta jokes and genre send-ups, so the show plays as a single continuing quest with a manic, irreverent energy. Beneath the chaos sits a quieter nostalgia for a neighborhood facing closure. The series is a one-season, thirteen-episode run that will appeal to viewers who enjoy hyperactive comedy. Fans of Gintama, FLCL and Excel Saga will find resonance in its anarchic parody and self-aware pop culture humor.
