## Synopsis

Dolores: The Truth About the Wanninkhof Case (2021) is a Spanish true crime docuseries created for HBO Max. Its central figure is Dolores Vázquez, who was wrongly convicted of the murder of Rocío Wanninkhof and speaks directly to the camera about the case, her arrest, and the years she spent branded as guilty. Her candid testimony is the engine of the six-episode run, which moves through the investigation, the public reaction, and the gap between how the case was framed and what she says actually happened. The series shows how one inquiry can lock onto the wrong suspect and how hard it is to undo that judgment long afterward. Its tone is sober and deliberate rather than sensational, with a sense of reckoning and quiet anger that suits viewers who follow miscarriage of justice stories. Shaped as a short, self-contained documentary limited series, it rewards attention and suits fans of Making a Murderer, The Staircase, and The Jinx who want real cases examined through the people caught inside them. The series is set in Spain and focuses on events from the late twentieth century, presenting the case with restraint and careful attention to the people involved.
