## Synopsis

Bulgasal: Immortal Souls (2021-2022) is a South Korean fantasy action drama miniseries created by Seo Jae-won and Kwon So-ra and broadcast on tvN. Lee Jin-uk plays Dan Hwal, a revenge-driven immortal cursed since birth and exempt from death, who sets out to reclaim his soul and bring an end to a vendetta that has run for six centuries. Kwon Na-ra, Lee Joon, and Gong Seung-yeon round out the principal cast, with Kim Woo-seok and Park Myung-shin among the others, and their characters are drawn into the immortal's orbit as the curse and its history pull them along. The engine of the series is the chase itself: a man who cannot die hunting the terms of his own damnation through shamanic rites, spirits, and an old grudge that refuses to fade. The sixteen-episode run is a single continuing story rather than a case of the week, with each episode layering another piece of the mythology onto the present-day pursuit. Its tone is dark and brooding, with flashes of action and melancholy, and its folklore-soaked atmosphere recalls the Korean supernatural dramas of its era. Fans of Guardian: The Lonely and Great God, Kingdom, and Hotel Del Luna will find resonance in its blend of immortality, vengeance, and Korean myth.
