## Synopsis

The Bad Penny (2021-2022) is a Turkish crime drama series created by Barbaros Bilgin and broadcast on Show TV, presenting a single completed season of 28 two-hour episodes. When a serial killer begins stalking a Romani neighborhood, a hardboiled police captain, Kartal (Uraz Kaygılaroğlu), must set aside his distrust and team up with a Gypsy crime boss to bring the killer to justice. The engine of the series is this uneasy partnership: two men who operate by different codes must pool their resources, their informants and their nerve while the police hierarchy and the underworld both push back. Each episode builds investigative tension through street-level leads, back-alley confrontations and shifting loyalties within the community. Ekin Koç plays Efe, and Aslıhan Malbora plays Leyla, both drawn into the danger as the hunt tightens. Set in contemporary Turkey, the show moves through crowded neighborhoods and tense interrogation rooms with a gritty, brooding atmosphere. Its tone is dark and propulsive, with a strong emphasis on loyalty, justice and the cost of moral compromise. Fans of The Killing, Peaky Blinders and Mindhunter will find resonance in its procedural grit and its portrait of a fractured city.
