## Synopsis

Alparslan: The Great Seljuks (2021-2022) is a Turkish historical drama series created by Sedat İnci and broadcast on TRT 1, presented as a two-season epic spanning 61 episodes of roughly two and a half hours each. Barış Arduç plays Sultan Alparslan, the ruler whose military and political choices open the doors of Anatolia to the Turks, while Fahriye Evcen plays Akça Hatun, a principal figure in his life, alongside Mehmet Özgür as the statesman Nizamülmülk and Sarp Levendoğlu as the Byzantine commander Romen Diyojen. The engine of the show is a ruler who must hold together a young state while pressing campaigns against Byzantine and rival forces, with each episode built from court negotiations, strategy councils, and battlefield clashes. Its scale is broad and ceremonial, moving between palace chambers and open-field warfare across the Seljuk domains. The tone is solemn and heroic, carried by sweeping battle sequences and a stately, reverent treatment of faith, duty and dynasty. Fans of Kurulus: Osman, Resurrection: Ertugrul and The Last Kingdom will find resonance in its blend of statecraft, medieval warfare and national mythmaking. The series is a Turkish historical epic whose appeal lies in its large cast, long battle set pieces and its portrait of an empire being founded.
