## Synopsis

Kakegurui Twin (2022) is a Japanese animated psychological thriller miniseries produced by MAPPA and avex pictures and released as a Netflix original net animation. Spun off from the Kakegurui manga, its six episodes follow Mary Saotome (voiced by Minami Tanaka), who invests everything she has into the high stakes gambling culture of an elite private high school where status is decided by wagers. Her rise up the social ladder is driven by a hunger for power, and each episode builds around a new gamble whose outcome turns on bluffing, reading tells and psychological manipulation. Principal supporting roles are voiced by Rina Honnizumi as Tsuzura Hanatemari, You Taichi as Yukimi Togakushi and Yuhko Kaida as Sachiko Juraku, whose rivalries and alliances make every table feel dangerous. The short run keeps the stakes sharp and the pace brisk, with a glossy, exaggerated visual register that mixes cruelty, dark comedy and cool calculation. Fans of Kakegurui, Death Note and Liar Game will find resonance in its blend of elite school hierarchy and cerebral gambling tension. The story is set in a contemporary Japanese high school, and the tone stays cool, feverish and unsettling throughout.
