## Synopsis

The Graham Norton Show (2007-present) is a British national-television talk show created for BBC One and BBC Two, hosted by Irish comedian Graham Norton. Each weekly episode of roughly forty-nine minutes gathers a rotating line-up of celebrity guests who sit down to pick apart the week's biggest news stories, trading quips, confessions and blunt opinions with the host and each other. Norton's role is that of a quick-witted ringmaster, steering wandering tangents back to the couch and drawing out anecdotes that often turn into the funniest moments of the night. The format is built on conversation rather than scripted sketches, so its engine is the unpredictable chemistry between guests who may be strangers or old friends. Most episodes close with a band or solo artist performing a song, giving the broadcast a festive sign-off. Spanning thirty-four seasons and more than five hundred episodes, the show carries a warm, irreverent, cheeky register with a strong sense of British light entertainment tradition. Fans of Parkinson, The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson and Have I Got News for You will find the same mix of sharp wit, affectionate mockery and celebrity candour that makes the series a long-running staple of weekly television.
