## Synopsis

The Consultant (2023) is an American dark comedy series created by Tony Basgallop for Prime Video. After an unspeakable tragedy at CompWare, a games studio in downtown Los Angeles, the mysterious consultant Regus Patoff (Christoph Waltz) blows into town and takes charge. Craig Horne (Nat Wolff) and Elaine Hayman (Brittany O'Grady) are among the staff caught in his orbit as he reshapes the company around a mobile game project. The engine of the show is the unsettling authority of an outsider whose motives and origins stay unclear, while the staff scramble to keep their jobs and their sanity. Its single eight-episode season unfolds as a sardonic, slightly absurd workplace satire with moments of dark humor and sudden menace. The tone is wry and unsettling, with corporate culture skewered through a strange, almost surreal lens. Fans of Severance and Industry will find resonance in its office power games and its cool, deadpan take on modern tech work. The series is a contained, self-contained limited run, and its uneven pacing rewards viewers who enjoy offbeat, morally murky comedy about ambition and control.
