## Synopsis

Through the Darkness (2022) is a South Korean crime drama limited series created by Kim Mi-joo and Lee Seul-gi and produced by Studio S. Kim Nam-gil plays Song Ha-young, a profiler at the center of a tenacious detective team that studies the minds of murderers. Kim So-jin plays Yoon Tae-goo, and Jin Sun-kyu plays Kook Young-soo, both working alongside Ryeoun's Jung Woo-joo as the squad pieces together a killer's psychology from thin physical evidence. The engine of the series is the slow, methodical hunt: detectives interviewing offenders, reading case files, and testing theories against a public growing more frightened by the day. Across twelve episodes of roughly an hour each, the show moves like a single continuous investigation rather than a case-of-the-week format. Its setting is 1980s South Korea, when the country's first serial murders gripped the nation, and the atmosphere is cold, austere, and suspenseful. Based on true events and a novel, it carries a grounded, cerebral tone and a steady undercurrent of dread. Fans of Mindhunter, Signal, and Zodiac will find resonance in its procedural rigor and its fascination with the criminal mind.
