## Synopsis

Disclaimer (2024) is a British limited series created by Alfonso Cuarón for Apple TV. Cate Blanchett plays Catherine Ravenscroft, a celebrated investigative journalist whose career is built on exposing the transgressions of others, until an unsettling novel appears at her bedside and she realizes she is a key character in a long-buried story that threatens her darkest secret. Kevin Kline, Sacha Baron Cohen, and Lesley Manville join her as principal figures tied to that hidden past, while Kodi Smit-McPhee and Louis Partridge round out the family web. The engine of the story is Catherine's frantic attempt to learn who wrote the book and what it means, while the truth she has long kept buried pushes ever closer to the surface. Each episode peels back another layer of the past, with the narrative moving between present-day pressure and earlier years in a measured, layered rhythm. Presented as a single seven-episode run, it is a polished, slow-burning psychological thriller with a melancholic, dread-filled register and a strong focus on guilt, memory, and reckoning. Viewers who enjoyed the elegant secrets of Big Little Lies, the marital unravelling of The Undoing, or the twisting domestic suspense of Gone Girl will find a similar appeal here.
