## Synopsis

The Envoys (2021-2023) is an Argentine-produced religious mystery drama series created by Juan José Campanella for Paramount+. Two Vatican officials, Simón Antequera (Miguel Ángel Silvestre) and Pedro Salinas (Luis Gerardo Méndez), hold sharply different ideas of what faith means, yet both are dispatched to distant corners of the world to examine alleged miracles and healings attributed to members of the church. Their engine is a simple but pressing question: is each reported wonder genuine or a lie dressed up as grace? Each case pulls them into local communities, institutional pressures, and private doubts, while the investigations gradually reveal how much the church has at stake in the answer. Across two seasons and sixteen episodes the show alternates between its two investigators, and its tone is contemplative and tense, with a sober, moody register that favors dialogue and atmosphere over spectacle. Its themes of faith, skepticism, and institutional power will appeal to viewers who enjoy thoughtful, adult mysteries. Fans of The Leftovers, The X-Files, and The Young Pope will find resonance in its blend of doubt, spiritual stakes, and investigative structure.
