## Synopsis

The Silence is a Croatian and Ukrainian co-produced crime mystery series that follows Detective Vladimir Kovac and reporter Stribor Kralj as they struggle to make sense of a chain of suspicious deaths in Croatia. Their investigation runs alongside a separate storyline in Kyiv, where a Ukrainian philanthropist searches for her missing niece. The series is built as one continuing mystery rather than a case-of-the-week format, and its engine is the slow accumulation of evidence across two countries. Each thread exposes corruption, smuggling and human trafficking networks that reach past borders and into respectable institutions. The tone is bleak and methodical, with a grounded, unhurried texture and a sense of dread that builds gradually. Viewers who enjoy layered crime stories and morally compromised systems will find its patient, intercut structure absorbing and emotionally heavy throughout.
