## Synopsis

Raven of the Inner Palace (2022) is a Japanese anime mystery fantasy series created for broadcast on Gunma TV, TOKYO MX, BS11 and Tochigi TV, a single season of thirteen episodes. Its solitary protagonist, the Raven Consort Shouxue (voiced by Saku Mizuno), lives deep in the inner palace and does not perform the nighttime duties expected of a consort. She wields mysterious arts and will accept any request, whether finding something lost or cursing an enemy to death. Her world is a shadowed imperial court of ancient China, where rumors describe her as either an old woman or a young girl. The engine of the story is the emperor Gaojun (voiced by Masaaki Mizunaka), who arrives one night with a favor to ask, and the meeting opens a secret that threatens the foundations of the empire. Each episode unfolds through palace intrigue, supernatural bargains and gradually surfacing loyalties, building a patient, layered mystery. The tone is wistful and eerie, with courtly elegance and an undercurrent of dread. Fans of The Story of Yanxi Palace and xxxHOLiC will find resonance in its blend of palace politics, enigmatic magic and a secretive heroine. Produced with BN Pictures and Shueisha, it suits viewers who enjoy a shoujo-leaning supernatural story told in a compact run.
