## Synopsis

Soldier of Fortune, Inc. (1997-1999) is a American syndicated action adventure series created by Dan Gordon and distributed through syndication. Brad Johnson plays Matthew Shepherd, a former soldier who leads an elite team through unofficial missions for the US Government, with Tim Abell as Benny Riddle, Melinda Clarke as Margo Vincent, and David Selby as Xavier Trout among the principal players. Each episode is built around a self-contained operation against terrorists and drug lords, with the team's skills and loyalty tested in every case. The first season leans on patriotic duty and personal sacrifice, giving the action a earnest, straightforward register. The show spans two seasons and thirty-seven episodes, and its second season was retooled under the name SOF: Special Ops Force with new cast members and a lighter, hipper approach. Fans of Mission: Impossible, The A-Team and Strike Back will find a similar appetite for covert missions, team camaraderie and high-stakes action. The series is a cultural artifact of late nineties American television, an earnest and sincere take on the covert operative genre.
