## Synopsis

Casper & Mandrilaftalen (1999) is a Danish sketch comedy series created by Casper Christensen and Lasse Rimmer for DR2. Hosted by Casper Christensen, the show features Lasse Rimmer, Frank Hvam and Lars Hjortshøj in a rotating set of characters and sketches, with Anders Matthesen appearing in a few episodes. Across two seasons and 67 episodes, the programme stitches together short satirical bits that poke fun at television conventions, self-importance and everyday Danish life, with each episode made of brisk, self-contained absurd set pieces rather than a continuing storyline. Its tone is irreverent, deadpan and playful, with a cult following built around its recurring performers and their willingness to push a joke past comfortable limits. The show belongs to a tradition of satirical British and American sketch comedy and will appeal to viewers who enjoy the anarchic energy of Monty Python's Flying Circus or the awkward comic timing of The Office. Its appeal lies in quick, ironic bursts of parody that reward repeat viewing and a taste for mischievous, self-aware humour.
