## Synopsis

Lycoris Recoil (2022) is a Japanese animated action comedy series produced by A-1 Pictures and Aniplex, a single-season anime with thirteen episodes. Spirited secret agent Chisato Nishikigi (voiced by Chika Anzai) and her aloof partner Takina Inoue (voiced by Shion Wakayama) work at an unassuming, charming cafe in Tokyo while happily helping customers in any way they can. Beneath the warm daily routine, the two young women are operatives of a secret government organization that sends them on covert missions, and their partnership is tested as the hidden violence of their work presses against the calm life they have built. Each episode blends slice of life warmth with brisk action set pieces, and the show moves between cozy humor and sudden, tense confrontations. Mizuki Nakahara (voiced by Ami Koshimizu) and the agency's shadowy figures add pressure to the two leads. The tone is breezy and sincere, with a bright palette that gives way to moments of grit. Fans of Spy Family and Assassination Classroom will find resonance in its mix of everyday comedy and covert action, and the bond between its two heroines gives the series its heart.
