## Synopsis

My Liberation Notes (2022) is a South Korean slice of life drama miniseries created by Park Hae-young and Kim Sok-yun for JTBC. Across sixteen episodes it follows three exhausted adult siblings, the Yeom family, as they search for fulfillment and freedom from the monotony of day-to-day adulthood. Yeom Chang-hee (Lee Min-ki) and Yeom Mi-jeong (Kim Ji-won) anchor the story alongside the youngest sibling Yeom Gi-jeong (EL), while Son Suk-ku plays Mr. Gu, a presence who pulls the family's routines into new shape. The engine here is small: ordinary jobs, unspoken resentments, family obligations and the ache of loneliness, all played out in patient, observational scenes rather than big plot turns. The series moves at a deliberate pace, with a melancholic yet gently warm register and recurring voice-over that lends the characters an inner, reflective voice. Its rhythm and mood invite comparison with My Mister and Thirty-Nine, and fans of quiet Korean family drama and slow burn romance will find resonance here. Set in contemporary Korea, with stretches in the countryside, it rewards viewers who want an intimate, understated drama about healing and the small hopes that keep people going.
