## Synopsis

Rebelde (2004-2006) is a Mexican teen telenovela created by Cris Morena and Pedro Damián for Univision and Las Estrellas. Set at the Elite Way School, an upscale private institution in Mexico City, the series follows a group of young adults as they navigate adolescence, first romances and the pressures of wealth and class. Its ensemble includes Enrique Rocha as León Bustamante, Anahí as Mia Colucci Cáceres, Dulce María as Roberta Pardo, Christopher Von Uckermann as Diego Bustamante and Alfonso Herrera as Miguel Arango, with Juan Ferrara as Franco Colucci and Ninel Conde as Alma Rey among the adult figures. The engine of the show is the tangle of romantic rivalries and shifting alliances among students who form musical groups and chase their ambitions onstage. Each episode layers schoolyard friction, love triangles and class resentment into a long serialized arc spanning three seasons and several hundred episodes. Music runs through every storyline, giving the drama a bright, emotional, sometimes melancholic register. Fans of Gossip Girl, Glee and Verano de amor will find resonance in its blend of privileged youth, melodrama and pop-driven coming-of-age romance.
