## Synopsis

Women at War (2022) is a French national-television historical drama miniseries created by Cécile Lorne and broadcast on TF1. Over eight episodes of roughly fifty-two minutes each, it follows four women whose lives collide in France in 1914 as the First World War reshapes the country. Audrey Fleurot plays Marguerite, a mysterious Parisian woman with a hidden past, while Sofia Essaïdi plays Caroline, suddenly thrust into running the family factory, Julie de Bona plays Agnès, the Mother Superior of a requisitioned convent, and Camille Lou plays Suzanne, a feminist nurse. Their separate struggles for independence, survival and authority push them into conflict with the male institutions around them, and each episode braids their storylines into a single wartime fabric. The result is a sweeping, emotionally charged home front drama, grounded in period detail and carrying a tone of defiance, tension and quiet resilience. Fans of Downton Abbey and The Great War will find resonance in its blend of female-led ensemble storytelling and historical texture.
