## Synopsis

Devotion, a Story of Love and Desire (2022) is an Italian limited series created for Netflix, a six-episode drama of roughly 39 minutes per episode. Carlo Pentecoste (Michele Riondino) and Margherita Verna (Lucrezia Guidone) appear to have a happy marriage until doubts about Carlo's faithfulness surface and both partners begin to feel the pull of other desires. The engine of the story is the slow erosion of trust: late-night conversations, small lies, and the quiet temptations that arise within a circle of friends and family. Alice Arcuri, Carolina Sala and Maria Paiato round out the principal cast as the people who witness and are pulled into the couple's unraveling. Each episode builds on domestic interiors, dinner tables and private encounters rather than external thrills, so the tension lives in glances, silences and half-confessed feelings. The series plays as an intimate, restrained adult drama with a melancholic, sensual register, and its explicit scenes and frank conversations make it best suited to mature viewers. Fans of The Affair and Big Little Lies, as well as admirers of the sharp interpersonal drama of Fleabag, will find familiar resonance in its close study of love, fidelity and self-deception.
