## Synopsis

The Ignorant Angels (2022) is an Italian drama series created by Ferzan Özpetek for Disney+. After her husband dies in a car accident, Antonia (Cristiana Capotondi) learns that he had been secretly involved with a man named Michele (Eduardo Scarpetta). Devastated at first, she slowly builds an unexpected friendship with Michele and begins to understand the life her husband kept hidden. Through this bond she is drawn into his wider circle of friends, a group of people living unconventional lives and claiming different sexual identities, whose warmth and loyalty reshape her idea of family. Luca Argentero plays Massimo, and Ambra Angiolini plays Annamaria, two principal figures in this circle whose own relationships test and deepen the group's bonds. The series runs for a single season of eight episodes, each built around everyday moments of grief, confession, shared meals and quiet reconciliation rather than a case-of-the-week structure. Its tone is tender, intimate and warmly humane, with melancholy giving way to hope. Fans of Ferzan Özpetek's films and of ensemble emotional dramas like This Is Us and Queer as Folk will find resonance in its portrait of love, acceptance and chosen family.
