## Synopsis

Recipes for Love and Murder (2022-present) is a South African television cozy mystery series created by Sally Andrew, Karen Jeynes and Tannie Maria for M-Net. Maria Doyle Kennedy plays Tannie Maria, a warm, observant cook who writes a lovelorn advice column and sees food as medicine for both body and heart. Kylie Fisher plays Jessie September, and Tony Kgoroge plays Khaya Meyer, a police detective whose path crosses Tannie Maria's as the investigation grows. Adapted from a novel by Sally Andrew, the show runs across two seasons and eighteen episodes, with each installment built around a new death among the people who write to her column. The engine is simple and personal: Tannie Maria wants to understand the killing, while her own longing for romance pulls against her caution. Set in a small Karoo town, the series moves through kitchens, letters, gossip and local rivalries. Its tone is gentle, wry and comforting, with a murder at its center that never fully overwhelms the warmth of the food and friendship. Fans of Murder, She Wrote, The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency and Midsomer Murders will find resonance in its amateur sleuth charm and provincial atmosphere.
